The purpose of this newsletter is to stimulate interest in tracking and analysis of events that
might lead to long-term trends. Having lived in California for the last 41 years, I firmly believe that all trends, good or bad,
start here and will eventually reach the rest of the nation and the world in a year or two. I also believe that spotting trends
early and being able to act on this information is beneficial to all organizations. In this newsletter we report on events in areas
such as science and technology, media, economy and markets, politics, legislation, structures and organizations, the way we see
them from San Diego. Occasionally, we might hazard to identify a trend, but we leave a lot of that up to you, the reader. We also
welcome comments and suggestions from you, not only on what we said, but also on what we might have missed. I hope that you as
the reader will find this useful. I am looking forward to hearing your comments.
